Get Outside and Enjoy the Weather!
January 27, 2011
Have you been enjoying all the great weather we’ve been having recently? With recent temperatures in the 60s and 70s, the last few weeks have been ideal for outdoor activities. As it’s January, you might not be used to coming up with things to do outside this time of year, so we thought we’d provide a few suggestions:
- Go for a run. We’re lucky to have numerous beautiful parks right here in our backyard. Go for a run (or a walk with friends) at Santa Teresa County Park or Rancho San Antonio Open Space Preserve. You can get even more ideas by browsing the hiking category on Yelp.
- Walk instead of driving. Depending on where you’re going, plan ahead and go for a walk (or ride a bike) instead of taking the car.
- Play a game. Grab your family and/or a few friends and play a friendly game of basketball, tennis, soccer, etc.
What else have you been doing to get outside recently?
How Are Those Resolutions Going?
January 20, 2011
Did you make resolutions this year? Now that we’re three weeks into the month, this is the time of year where the going can get tough, but we’re here to tell you not to give up!
One reason your resolutions might be especially tough is if you set unrealistic goals. Maybe this would be a good time to revise your resolutions so they’re doable for the entire year. Here are a few tips we recommend anyone setting goals for themselves:
- Aim for progress, not perfection. If you aren’t exercising now, don’t make a goal of exercising an hour every day! Set smaller realistic goals first like, “I will walk 30 minutes 3 days per week.” Schedule this appointment with yourself in your planner like you would any other appointment.
- Have an accountability partner with whom you share your resolutions. The more people you tell, the more accountable you become because people will ask you how you are doing.
- Write down your resolutions and look at them every day. Keeping the changes you want to make in front of your visual space will boost your chances of being successful!
- Make 2 or 3 resolutions at most. Too many resolutions and you will be overwhelmed and scrap them all!
Do you have any additional suggestions for making and keeping resolutions?

No Major Health Problems? You Should Still See a Chiropractor
January 6, 2011
This is a guest post from one of our publicists, Emily Sidley.
Last week I experienced my first chiropractic evaluation. I’d never been to a chiropractor before. I never thought I had much of a reason to see one. I’m young (26) and fairly healthy. Sure, I could be in better shape, but I don’t experience back or neck pain on a day-to-day basis. So why see a chiropractor?
The firm for which I work currently represents Rozenhart Family Chiropractic. Although I live and work in Washington State, I was able to visit the Bay Area over the holiday break and, since I was in town, it seemed like a good time to gain additional insight into the care Drs. Jennifer and Stephanie provide, which is why I went in for an evaluation.
After working with the Rozenharts over the past 9 months, I know about the benefits of chiropractic care. I know that subluxation builds up in the spine over time and affects how well the brain communicates with the rest of the body. I know that regular adjustments are an important part of taking care of oneself, in addition to eating well and staying active. I know that chiropractic care is for everyone – kids and adults. Still, in knowing all that, it wasn’t personal for me. It was one of those things I thought was beneficial, but never got around to doing. That has changed.
During my evaluation, Dr. Jennifer was able to show me the subluxation that has already built up in my spine – I was actually able to identify it myself! Then we went over how the subluxation affects various areas in the body. I could see that one of the predominantly misaligned areas for me – my lower back – includes symptoms like headaches, digestive complaints and hip & leg pain. Although I don’t experience many of these symptoms regularly now, it’s definitely foreseeable that I could in another year or two.
Even though I’m not able to begin regular adjustments with Rozenhart Family Chiropractic, Dr. Jennifer did give me a few suggestions. Obviously I sit at the computer all day, so she showed me how to stand up and stretch every 50 minutes to help counteract sitting in a chair and staring at a screen for 8 hours a day. She also suggested a supplement to help me work enough veggies into my diet and gave me the name of a chiropractor in my area to check out.
Yes, I think of myself as being fairly healthy. But thanks to Drs. Jennifer and Stephanie, I think of myself as someone that needs regular adjustments to live a healthier, happier life too! If you live in the South Bay, take a little bit of time to improve your quality of life, and give the Rozenharts a call at 408-979-9999, even if you don’t think you need it yet. You might be surprised too!
