A new study in the journal Human Brain Mapping found that obese people have 8 percent less brain tissue than their healthy weight counterparts and that their brains looked 16 years older! People classified just as overweight had 4 percent less brain tissue and looked 8 years older. Carrying extra weight has many negative health effects including heart disease, Type 2 diabetes and now you can add sever brain degeneration to the list. This lack of brain tissue can put you at higher risk of Alzheimer’s and dementia.
The good news is that this is within your control! Eating well, and staying active are the top ways to keeping your brain tissue intact and working well!
