Why go to a Chiropractor?
May 19, 2010
In this tough economy, money is tight for a lot of individuals and families. We hear a lot of people say things like, “I just don’t have the money to see a chiropractor right now” and “I eat right, exercise daily and am overall healthy, so the chiropractor isn’t really for me.” Chiropractic care is important for everyone, though. Here are three reasons why:
- Subluxation – the condition that we look for – is like a cavity in your teeth. It may be there for some time before you feel anything.
- Every adjustment allows the body’s function to be more coordinated and more balanced. It also allows the body to function more efficiently. Less energy is required to perform any given action, giving you more energy overall!
- We all have heard the saying “an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.” During these economic times this principle applies more than ever! A recent study with more than 70,000 patients across 7 years compared those with alternative practitioners (i.e. chiropractors, naturopaths, acupuncturists) with those that had M.D.s as their Primary Care Physician. Clinical and cost utilization in the group with alternative practitioners demonstrated:
- Decreases of 60.2% in-hospital admissions.
- 59.0% less hospital days.
- 62.0% less outpatient surgeries and procedures.
- 85% less pharmaceutical costs.
A chiropractor can be a valuable asset in keeping your body energized and medical costs low. For more information about how we can help, give our office a call at 408.979.9999.

Got something to say?

I completely agree! I’ve benefited from chiropractic care twice recently: once after a minor car accident and once after spraining my ankle. Both times my recovery was so much faster because of the care I received.
I love these stats you offer, have never seen them before. As an alternative practitioner myself, I sure believe them. Thanks for sharing.

Wow, those stats are very impressive. Although I don’t know why I should be surprised. I think people who use alternative medicine including chiropractic, probably tend to be interested in preventative medicine and looking at their bodies more holistically. Great article, Jennifer!
I knew there were benefits to chiropractic care, but had never seen stats on decreased hospital stays and surgeries. Sure makes it look more cost effective than waiting until we feel like we have a problem. Now if we could just convince the insurance companies of its value, I bet there would be a lot of healthier people around! Imagine a world where people would be required to visit a chiropractor as the first line of treatment before surgery or medication – what a difference that could make!
It will be a great day for health care when insurance reimburses preventative and non-traditional care with ease! Thanks for an interesting read – The stats are pretty amazing.

Those statistics definitely got my attention. And you have put me to thinking … how important what you do is in our stressful environment. I have personally felt more stress in my business this year than I have since starting it.
Thanks for making me think,
Jeff

We all want insurance to cover preventative care and from an initial analysis it makes sense that it would save them money in the long run. This model would make sense if people stayed with the same employer/insurance company for 40 or 50 years, then the insurance companies would reap the benefits of having covered those services. However, because people change jobs/insurance policies at least once or twice in a lifetime, insurance companies never get to recuperate the “costs”of preventative care.
BUT, if they ALL agreed to cover it so they would ALL reap the long term benefits- we would really be on to something…do you think they will ever decide to work collaboratively?
Thanks for the reminder about preventative medicine. Think I’ll go schedule an appointment with my chiropractor!
